On Sunday the 10th of February I decided to attend the Welsh Fish Friers meeting to support my colleagues in South Wales. It was a great turn out with over thirty people attending to watch the presentations.
The first presentation was by Mark Drummond, a legend in the industry, who delivered a small part of the training we deliver to takeaways on behalf of local authorities up and down the UK on how to manage oil to produce the healthiest food possible.
The Second presentation was by Tim and Kelly Barnes, the owners of Krispies of Exmouth, the winners of Independent Takeaway at the National Fish and Chip Awards. Their presentation told their story and the journey that led them to be the best in the UK.
It is great to see so many shops giving up their Sunday morning to attend and learn. We have a great network and I am honored to be able to play a part to help.
I then paid a visit to Penalunas in Hirwaun. John Penaluna is the Welsh Regional Director for the NFFF. I have worked with John for many Years on the NFFF board. The shop was closed so I couldn’t have fish and chips… but they do make a wicked coffee!
I have been in fish and chips for 21 years and currently hold the position on President of the National Federation of Fish Friers
