On the 4th of January I was lucky enough to be invited to Granada Fish Bar in Fleetwood by Steve Lynton. It was Steve’s birthday and the upcoming Saturday Jamie Vardy was returning to play against Fleetwood for his current team Leicester City in the FA Cup… and Steve managed to get a visit arranged to his shop for the famous price of silverware!
I have known Steve for many years, but it was my first visit to Granada. The wall as you walk in is dotted with pictures of Steve’s celebrity friends from his previous career, and a few politicians who have visited in the past.
We were treated to a lovely portion of Fish and chips whilst we waited for the arrival of the trophy. Several members of the press arrived ready to capture photos of the cup with Fish and Chips.. fleetwoods famoys Cod Army.
The trophy arrived accompanied by two security guards in a locked box on a trolley. Two members of FA staff were also present to ensure things run smooth and that the sponsors ribbons proudly display the company name in the photos.
Steve posed for a few photos inside the shop.
The cup was then whisked away and driven back down to London for safe keeping. It is too valuable to be kept in a hotel.
It was a great way to get Fish and chips and a great way for Steve to celebrate his birthday. If you are in Fleetwood why not bob in and try Granada for yourself.. and try to find Steve’s Gold Disc in amongst the celeb photos.
I have been in fish and chips for 21 years and currently hold the position on President of the National Federation of Fish Friers
